Is there a difference between what a dentist can do and what we do?
No, we use the same machines and pharmaceutical grade products that a dentist does, however a dentist will charge more for this service just because they are dental professionals. Before the FDA opened this field up recognizing it as a cosmetic process, dentists were the only ones able to perform these services, thus allowing them to charge more.
A mobile teeth whitening service is also more convenient as you can have the procedure done right in the comfort of your own home.
What is the difference between over the counter products and the products we use?
The main differences are that we use a higher pharmaceutical grade Carbamide Peroxide whitening gel. While most over the counter gels contain around 10%, we use a stronger, more pure 30% gel. This in conjunction with the LED light decreases the length of time the whitening will take so that you have the convenience of having results after only 30 minutes.
Is the process safe for all people?
Many dentists consider cosmetic teeth whitening the safest cosmetic dental procedure available. Both the machine and all the products are FDA regulated and approved.
It is however not recommended for individuals who wear braces, have just completed gum surgery, are in poor health, have any gum disease, exposed roots, decayed or sensitive teeth, jaw joint problems, colitis, ulcers, periodontal disease or allergies to any of the ingredients.
Although there is no evidence of any ill effects as a precaution it is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or nursing, has photo sensitivity or is taking any medication that causes photo sensitivity. It is also not recommended for small children.
Will the bleaching process harm any of my dental work?
No, it will not harm any dental work, it is completely safe. Veneers, crowns, bridges, bonding and fillings do not whiten beyond their original color. If there are surface stains they will be removed.
What is the expected time for a treatment and what is the process?
You will be asked to fill out some paperwork before beginning the whitening. The total process takes between 30-45 minutes. We recommend allowing an full hour so that you will not be feel rushed.
Why do some companies use trays and we don’t?
Trays do help to keep the gel in contact with the teeth. However to work properly they need to have a snug fit which would require you to have custom made trays. (One size tray does not fit all) This would fall under the category of dentistry.
Some companies also use a very thick tray which makes it a barrier for the light to penetrate before getting to your teeth where it is needed, for this reason we have chosen not use them.
When you paint the gel right onto your teeth, you know there is a good contact in all the places where it is needed.
How many shades whiter can I expect my teeth to get?
Individual results may vary, but many people see a 4-7 shade (or more) difference after one treatment.
Does it hurt?
This is the most asked question of all. No, it does not hurt if you have normal healthy teeth.
The reason so many people have had issues with sensitivity to hot and cold is from using over the counter products that you put on your teeth for days on end.
Because they are over the counter they are made with many ingredients to preserve their shelf life. The products we use in our mobile teeth whitening procedures are 100% pure and are pharmaceutical grade. The treatment is only 30 minutes and there for no sensitivities have been felt or reported.
All machines and products used are FDA and ADA approved and regulated.
