What is a Mobile Spa?

Like many others, you may not know what a spa party or a mobile spa is. When you hear the word “mobile spa” you get visions of a large van carting around massage therapists and aestheticians ready to park their spa on wheels and bring in passersby for a pampering treat.

Not to disappoint, but a mobile spa is not a spa on wheels. I don’t blame you for your initial assumptions. The term “mobile” naturally lends itself to the thought of something on wheels. But if it is not a spa on wheels, then what is it?

A mobile spa is a service that brings licensed technicians and spa treatments to the location of your choice such as your home, hotel, office, etc. Though most mobile spas including us, The Spa Beyond, offer services to individuals as well as groups, the most requested service is typically the spa party.

What is a Spa Party?

A spa party is just like an other party only the primary theme is centered around spa services.

Some companies today claim to offer "spa parties" in your home but are really multi level marketing businesses in disguise. The "spa" services are usually do it yourself and always free, but then you and your guests are expected to purchase their products. These are product sales parties, not spa parties.

A true spa party allows you and your friends to just relax in the comfort of your home. You receive pampering spa treatments just like at a regular spa with no product sales person or pressure to buy.

Mobile Spa Services and The Spa Party Trend

People ask me all the time how I came up with the idea to start a mobile spa/spa party business. First let me tell you that it was not an original idea—there were others before me—though I didn’t know it at the time.

I had spent the prior ten years working in the spa industry in different capacities. As a former massage therapist I had also owned and operated my own private practice.

From my unique insiders perspective to the growing demand for spa services was also and insight in to the changing needs of its customers.

What I noticed were people increasingly asking about spa parties and mobile spa services. And in 2004 my idea for an organized business around this concept was born. I named her The Spa Beyond (formerly Your Home Day Spa, Inc).

As the trend continues to move beyond the traditional day spa experience to something more convenient and special, mobile spa services and spa parties at home are quickly taking the place of the typical trip to the spa.

With today's busy lifestyles finding time to go to the spa can just be too much of a hassle. With mobile spa services you can now experience massage, facials, manicure and pedicure without leaving the house.

How do I Host a Spa Party?

The first thing you need is a date, location and a group of friends. Next you decide what types of spa services you want to include. This may include any range of services such as massage, manicure or pedicure, facials, etc.

Decide if you would like to create a theme, provide food, or include any other fun extras such as a belly dancer, bartender, tarot card reader, etc.
